Quick and easy recipe for your Lazy Monday! Because there’s nothing quite like eating a simple and delicious meal to start the week.

  • 500 grams of minced beef
  • 1 small onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 c. olive oil
  • 700 grams of passata tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. tablespoons Italian spice mix (oregano, parsley and basil)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cubes of beef stock
  • 300g dry orzo (dry Greek pasta)
  • 2 tbsp. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. olive oil
  • 700 ml of water
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Finely chopped fresh parsley

  1. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes or until translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef and increase the heat to high. Cook the ground beef, breaking it up as you go. When the meat is cooked, add the rest of the ingredients, except for the bird’s tongue.
  3. When the liquid begins to boil, add the orzo. Stir quickly, then reduce the heat to medium. cook 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until end of cooking to prevent scallops from sticking to bottom of pan. If the liquid evaporates too quickly, add a little hot water.
  4. Remove from heat. The pasta should still be undercooked (due to its small size, it can go from undercooked to overcooked very quickly, so be careful!).
  5. Check for seasoning, then stir well. Serve immediately and garnish with Parmesan cheese and freshly grated parsley, if desired.
