Mac and cheese, what exactly is it? Because yes, even if it seems impossible to you, some people still have never heard of this dish as greedy as calories. Macaroni and cheese are: shells, cheese, cheddar, gruyere, milk and spices. But often, some other ingredients are added for more flavor, like bacon, sausage, and broccoli for a healthy twist. But one thing is for sure, this dish is loved by everyone. Young children, like adults.

No doubt we’d say no to a good dish that’s creamy on the inside and au gratin on the outside, right?

Mac & Cheese Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pound shells or elbows
  • 4 cups medium shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 and a half cups of whole milk
  • Two and a half cups of liquid cream or half and a half
  • 1 cup and a half flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Steps to prepare macaroni with cheese

  1. Once the water in the pan boils, add the pasta. Let them cook until they are tender. drain them.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, grate the cheese if it isn’t cooked through and mix. Then make 3 piles of grated cheese.
  3. In another saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add flour and mix. Whisk the mixture for a minute to get rid of the sand.
  4. Pour the milk slowly over medium heat while continuing to whisk. The texture becomes soft.
  5. Remove from heat and add the largest pile of cheese, cream and spices. Stir gently but vigorously until dissolved.
  6. In a large saucepan or salad bowl, combine pasta with sauce.
  7. In a baking dish, pour half the amount of pasta and then a pile of grated cheese. Then add the rest of the pasta, then the rest of the grated cheese.
  8. Preheat the oven at 180°/375°F for 15 minutes. Or more, if the cheese on top is not light brown.
