At the end of September, many products are back on the shelves, like sweet potatoes or butternut squash, in shades of orange that herald the onset of fall. Moreover, this season, many spices with the same rich flavors invite into the kitchen, subtly enhancing our weeknight meals. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, and paprika are highlighted, and each dish is heated from appetizer to dessert.

My shopping list for this week
On this week’s menu, many seasonal fruits and vegetables are in the spotlight, in order to provide the body with nutrients and vitamins needed during this period of changing weather.
Thus, in the grocery department, we stock sweet potatoes, zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes, broccoli, squash, and mushrooms of your choice. In terms of fruit, grapes and apples will be used to make the majority of the week’s desserts, as well as peaches, plums, and blueberries.
At The Butcher, the list is long this week, and for good reason: We must provide our bodies with as much energy as possible as the new season comes around. To slip into our cart: chicken egillet, minced lamb, bacon, slick and of course filet mignon for the Sunday main course. At the fishmonger, we order cod fillets and whiting, each time without skin or bones.
In the dairy department, we stock yoghurt, milk, gorgonzola and mascarpone. Obviously, it’s impossible to skip the grocery section, to stock up on spices and herbs (rosemary, chives, mint, parsley, coriander), as well as seeds (chia and flax), spelt and coconut milk. Finally, we plan to buy a biscuit spoon for the famous blueberry tiramisu, and a tablet for the chocolate cream on Thursday night. Finally, the flour and eggs will be needed to make the raisin and cauliflower pancakes.
Bon appetite !
