With new protocols in place, is there a chance that Cook will play today against the Rams, or will Alexander Mattison get another start this season? Will Dalvin Cook play today against Ramez?
When Cook was placed on Reserve List / COVID-19 Thursday [December 23]Attack coordinator Clint Kubik spoke to the media. During his press conference, Kubik indicated that Cook will not be available on Sunday when Minnesota faces Los Angeles.
With new protocols in place, this would indicate that the cook may have been unvaccinated. If that is the case and he tests positive, Cook must go into quarantine for 10 days. However, if it was just close contact, he would need to quarantine for five days. Either way, Cook will miss Sunday’s game.
Cook’s absence couldn’t have come at a worse time
Cook’s absence comes at one of the worst possible times for the Vikings. They are currently 7-7 in NFL Ranking And they’re fighting to hold the Wild Card’s place in the NFC. The Green Bay Packers have already snatched away the NFC North. Thus, the Wild Card is the only shot the Vikings have in the qualifiers.
However, the Wild Card Racing in NFC is incredibly close. Two teams currently share the same 7-7 record as the Vikings, and two other teams are just one win away. The problem is that the Vikings have the sixth hardest force remaining in the timeline, according to Tankathon. The other teams in the hunt — the Hawks, the Saints, and the Eagles — all have strong tables ranked in the 20s.
Cook was a fictional star in 2021
Cook had a great season with the Vikings. He currently leads the NFC with 1,067 yards (3rd in the NFL) and has 6 touchdowns. Even more impressive is that he did it all in just 11 games, having missed several competitions this year due to injuries.

The Vikings RB is also in the top 10 Fantasy Points scored in Standard Leagues with an average of 16.2 Fantasy Points per game.
Alexander Mathison takes the lead
The Vikings have one of the best punches in the NFL with Cook and Mathison.
When Cook was too late this year, Mattison stepped up. In his three starts this year, he averaged 105 yards to dash per game and grabbed 16 of his 18 goals for 133 yards.
The Rams are currently 18th in fantasy points allowed for RBs and shed an average of 17.1 points per game.
If the Vikings are to win this competition and keep their hopes in the playoffs alive, Matteson will need to appear again as a starter. The Rams are the fifth-best attacking player in the league now, averaging 27.6 points per game. The 17 points scored by the Vikings last week likely won’t be enough for Minnesota to beat the high-flying Rams.
